The Experience
A Route Built Around You
This is a private departure — the itinerary below is our recommended route, showcasing the very best of Snæfellsnes, but every stop can be added, skipped or reordered to suit your interests.
Snæfellsjökull & Ytri-Tunga
We head west toward Snæfellsjökull, the glacier-capped volcano that inspired Jules Verne's Journey to the Centre of the Earth, then stop at Ytri-Tunga — a beach beside a working farm where a seal colony is often spotted resting on the rocks.
Búðakirkja & Arnarstapi
We continue to Búðakirkja, one of Iceland's few black churches, set within the Búðahraun lava field — then on to Arnarstapi, where the Atlantic has carved dramatic cliffs and rock arches, and where you'll find the statue of Bárður Snæfellsás, the peninsula's mythical guardian.
Djúpalónssandur & Kirkjufell
At the black sand beach of Djúpalónssandur, the remains of a 1948 shipwreck and four historic lifting stones tell a story of the peninsula's fishing days. We finish at Kirkjufell, widely considered Iceland's most photographed mountain, passing the 4,000-year-old Berserkjahraun lava field along the way.
